Used car prices · Sri Lanka

Is this price fair?

We read the real adverts from across Sri Lanka, put the same cars together, and show you what people are actually asking — the low, the middle, the high, and how many cars that came from. The judgement is yours.

We need the make, model and both years to give you an honest number.

25,930 active adverts · 6,030 models · prices checked 13 days ago

No free-text search: we match exact make and model names, which is what keeps the numbers trustworthy.

How we get to the number

No valuations, no guesswork — just what sellers are asking this week.

  1. We read real adverts

Public listings from every corner of the island, re-checked every few days. Once an advert is gone we stop counting it, so you are looking at this week’s market and not last year’s.

  2. We group the same car

Sellers write things however they like. “TOYOTA aqua” and “Toyota Aqua S” are the same car, so we put them back together — one row, one real vehicle.

  3. We show low, middle, high

And how many adverts it came from. Every advert is then marked below, around or above that middle, so you never have to do the maths yourself. If the sample is fewer than five we say so plainly — a middle price built on three cars is not worth much, and pretending otherwise would cost you money.

Before you buy

For most families this is the second-biggest purchase of a lifetime. Getting the price wrong by 10% is a year of savings, so it is worth an evening of reading.

  1. Compare against the middle price for the same year and fuel type, not against the cheapest advert you saw.
  2. If a car sits well below the middle, ask why. A price that good usually has a story behind it.
  3. Read the mileage before the price. A 40,000 km car and a 140,000 km car are not the same purchase.
  4. Asking price is not selling price. Most sellers expect to come down, so treat the middle as your starting point.
  5. Save the search and we will write to you when the middle price moves — no need to check back daily.
